An item reported that the Thaelmann Shipyard, Brandenburg, East Germany lacked materials to realize her tasks. Especially the shortage of galvanised seamless tubes and fitting caused serious problems. Thanks to the several efforts of government officials succeeded the shipyard in obtaining material if the ships were meant to be built for the USSR.
