East German fishing cutters used for searching for mines in the area around Sassnitz, East Germany according to a CIA report dated 29 March 1954

An item reported the sighting of several naval vessels in or around the harbour of Sassnitz between 18 January and 5 February 1954 the sighting of three groups East German fishing cutters used for searching for mines. Orders on board were given in German to the crews consisting of East German Sea Police men and at least 2 Soviet officers on each cutter. At least 2 of these groups consisted of 14 ships and which were active north and south of Sassnitz and south of the lighthouse near Königsstuhl, south of Sassnitz near Dwasieden and south between Granitz Bad and Granitzer Ort.
