In the 1960s was started wit designing the Queen Elizabeth-class (CVA-01) to consist of 4 units of which the first to probably were to be named Queen Elizabeth and Duke of Edinburg. The technical details were often changed and with a government wanting to reduce the defence budget was in the 1966 Defence White Paper decided to cancel the whole project.The displacement was 54.00-63.000 (full load) tons and as dimensions 282 x 56 x 10 metres. Speed 30 knots and 7.000 nautical miles range, Crew numbered 3.250 men.
