Catch results of the German Greenland seal hunters according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated 23 July 1771

An item reported the arrival at Hamburg, Germany of M. Swen 71 quardelen, Th. Swen 55 quardelen and H. Carel 22 quardelen seal blubber returning from Greenland. The first two left the ice on 72 degrees on 27 June reporting that the seal hunting season was not a success. They had a list with them of the catch results: of Hamburg H. Pieters 100 quardelen, P. Andriesen 82 quardelen, P. Michels and J. Lamberts each 30 quardelen, P. Swen 25 quardelen, P.A. Leest, C.J. Hol mand P. Hagenau each 20 quardelen, M. Michels and J.N. Steinmets junior each 14 quardelen, J. Swen and M.B. Groot each 12 quardelen, J. Jurgens, C.J. Ney and S.C. Moller wach 10 quardelen, H.H. Tonnies junior 5 quardelen and H.M. Jspers q uardelen. Of Altona J. Wit 40 quardelen, C. Carstens 35 quardelen, C. Peters 25 quardelen, J. Schauer and H. Pieters each 20 quardelen, P. Wohlers 15 quardelen and A. Jurgens 9 quardelen. Of Glückstadt M. Luders 50 quardelen and R. Wilkens and D. Boerhorst each 30 quardelen. Of the other seal hunters also fitted out for whaling were the commandeurs not known and was suspected that these ships went to the higher degrees. On lower degrees had been a lot of south winds with fog.
