Worse weather conditions for the Greenland whalers according to the Dutch newspaper Leydse courant dated 26 June 1769

An item dated Hamburg, Germany 19 June reported the arrival the same day of commandeur Simon Petersen with 120 quardelen seal blubber returning from Greenland. He left the 71 degrees position on 31 May and brought with him a list of results of other seal hunters. The weather in Greenland had never been so cold and he feared that the whalers on highers position would be harrassed by the ice. The wind had mostly been north and north east and sometimes noth west but returning homeward the weather had been nice with west and north west winds. He came as far as 74-75 degrees and thought that there was quite a lot of ice. He had not seen whalers in April except for some just arriving. More news dealing with the whalers he could not supply.
