Fire broken out on board of British cruiser HMS Arethusa according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 22 December 1937

An item dated London, England 12th reported that on board of the British cruiser HMS Arethusa fire broke out while she was 8 miles away from Malta to which she returned. There were no personnel casualties.(1)

1. Pennant number 26. Of the Arethusa-class light cruisers, preceded by Leander-class and succeeded by Town and Dido-classes. Building ordered on 1 September 1932, laid down by Chatham Dockyard on 25 January 1933, launched on 6 March 1934, commissioned on 23 May 1934, refitted between September-October 1937 and October 1940-January 1941, decommissioned in 1945 and broken up in 1950. Main armament 3x2-15.2cm/6” Mk XXIII naval guns.
