Dutch cargo ship ss Bengakalis 1917-1953

Building ordered by N.V. Mij. Voor Scheeps- en Werktuigbouw Fijenoord, Rotterdam, Netherlands on 22 June 1915. Launched with yard number 276 on 16 May 1917, trials on 20 March 1918, handed over to the Stoomvaart Maatschappij Nederland in May 1918, maided voyage begun on 31 May 1918, departed on 4 July 1918 as coal transport for the coastal defence ship Hr. Ms. Hertog Hendrik and the auxiliary cruiser Tabanan towards the Dutch East Indies, arrived on 17 September 1918, converted for oil fuelling in 1933 and sold to be broken up at Brugge, Belgium in 1953. Gross tonnage 6.453 tons, net tonnage 4.056 tons, deadweight 9.470 tons, grain capacity 446.000 cubic feet, bale capacity 427.150 cubic feet and as dimensions 128.02 x 16.61 x 10.24 metres.
