Important Japanese submarine base at Penang, Malaysia according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 14 March 1942

An item reported that according to a British estimation there were 25 enemy submarines stationed at Penang, Malaysia. (1)

Note

1. The Japanese 8th Submarine Squadron was based at Swettenham Pier, George Town, Malaysia between 1942-1944. Furthermore was also the German Gruppe Monsun or Monsoon Group submarines stationed at Penang between 1943-1944 and were Italian submarines like the Marconi-class Luigi Torelli active in the Far East
