An item reported that the arrival of the British battleship HMS Ramilies (1) at Rosyth, Scotland, the HMS Emperor of India (2) at Sheerness, England returning from the Mediterranean and the HMS Ark Royal (3) at Rosyth.
Notes
1. Part of the Revenge-class although often referred to as the Royal Sovereign-class or even ‘R‘-class. There were totally 8 ships planned of which two the Renown and Repulse were built using another design as battle cruisers and the third one the Resistance was cancelled. The 5 sister ships were the Royal Oak, Royal Sovereign, Revenge, Ramillies and Resolution. Preceded by the Queen Elisabeth-class and to be succeeded by the planned but never realized N3 class and the realized Nelson-class. Laid down at William Beardmore and Company, Dalmuir, Scotland on 12 November 1913, launched on 12 June 1916, commissioned on 1 September 1917 and broken up at Troon, England in 1949.
2. Part of the Iron Duke-class battleships (5x2-34.4cm/13.5” cal 45 Mk V guns), preceded by King George V-class, succeeded by Queen Elizabeth-class, ordered in 1911, laid down by Vickers, Barrow-in-Furness on 31 May 1912, launched on 27 November 1913, commissioned on 10 November 1914, decommissioned and sunk as target in 1931, salvaged and sold to be broken up broken on 6 February 1932 arriving 10 days later at the scrapyard.
3. Seaplane tender laid down by Blyth Shipbuilding Company, Blyth, United Kingdom on 7 November 1913, launched on 5 September 1914, acquired on 10 December 1914, renamed Pegasus on 21 December 1934, sold on 18 October 1946, became the ss Anita of the Panamanian company Compania de Navigation Ellanita and sold to be broken up in October 1950.
