Evacuation of White Russian refugees to Istanbul, Turkey according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 20 for the week ending 20 November 1920

An item reported that Sevastopol, Crimea was evacuated on 14 November and allready arrived 58,000 refugees [White Russians] Constantinople, Turkey with possible another 15,0000 underway. Later was reported that around 120,000 refugees transported with 73 ships arrived at Constantinople. There were none British ships involved in the Russian evacuation. The ships at Moda were so overcrowded that there was no place to sit of lay down but everyone had to stand the whole day and night. In the meantime also Russian warships arrived at Constantinople, which was not known except for the arrival on 18 November by general Wrangel (1) on board of the cruiser General Korniloff.(2)
