An item reported that by 21 August the heaviest concentration of enemy submarines was to be found eastward of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and secondly 10 submarines in the Florida Straits-Eastern Caribbean area. Between Trinidad and the Cape Verde Islands were 6 submarines active and 3 more in the vicinity of Bahia, Brazil. Further more one in the vicinity of Cape Cod, one off Cape Lookout and one near the Mississippi delta.
