American scout cruiser design dated April 1915

Part of a set of 11 designs to be used in discussions of the General Board of what the characteristics of future cruisers were to be. Never realized.

Dimensions 800 (waterline) x 76 (on waterline) x 22.0 feet. Block coefficient .536 and longitudinal coefficient .596. Turbine propulsion with 9 boilers supplying 71,300 ehp. Range 12,000 nautical miles/10 knots and speed 35 knots. Armament consisted of 1x2-35.56cm/14” breech loading guns, 9-12.7cm/5” quick firing guns and 4-7.62cm/3” anti aircraft guns. Armour consisted of a main side belt of 322 fee with 17.6’ extreme width stretching 5.0’ below the waterline and a thickness of 8” and a 3” thick protective deck.

Reserve feed 2/3 supply 951 tons

Battery, ammunition and 2/3 ordnance stores 690 tons
