French anti-submarine destroyer Latouche-Treville (D646) 1984-2022

Part of Georges Leygues-class type C760 AS or F70 AS anti submarine destroyers also referred to as a corvette C70 or frigate F70, preceded by Tourville-class succeeded by Aquitaine-class. Laid down by Arsenal de Brest on 15 February 1984, launched on 19 March 1988, commissioned on 16 July 1990 and decommissioned on 1 July 2022.

Specifications. Displacement 3,550-4,500 (full load) tons and as dimensions 139 x 14 x 5.7 metres or 456.0 x 45.11 x 18.8 feet. The propulsion was of the CODOG type consisting of 2x26,000 hp Rolls-Royce Olympus TM3B gas turbines and 2x5,200 hp SEMT Pielstick 16PA6-V280 diesels allowing a speed of 30 knots and a range of 7,400 nautical miles. Crew numbered 234 men. Armament consisted of 8 MM40 Block 2 Exocet anti-ship missiles, 2 fixed anti submarine torpedo tubes, 1-10cm CADAM dual purpose gun, 2-2cm anti aircraft guns, 4-12.7mm/0.50” anti aircraft machine guns, 1 Crotale Navale Edir octuple launcher with 26 CIWS anti-air missiles, 2 Simbad twin launchers (2x2 Mistral anti-air missiles) and until 2020 2 Westland Lynx anti-ship helicopters replaced by the AS565 Panther or Alouette III.
