French privateer departed towards the Greenland whaling grounds according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated 1 June 1702

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 31 May reported that a French privateer armed with 30 guns and a large crew left Bayonne, France destined for Greenland.
