Launched by Armstrong Whitworth on private venture base on 28 June 1899, offered for sale to the British Admiralty, bought on 8 May 1900, steam trials in June 1900, final trials in September 1901 and underway from Newcastle to Portsmouth broken into two parts and sunk near Cromer on 18 September 1901.
