Italian shipyard Ansaldo building frigates and escort sloops for Indonesia according to the Australia Station Intelligence Summary dated 1 February 1956

An item reported that at Italy the work on 2 frigates and 2 corvettes for Indonesia resumed after the contruction in October 1955 was halted when Indonesia was not able to meet instalment payments.(1)

Note

1. This must be the 1,150 tons light destroyers or frigates Imam Bondjol and Surapati and the 950 tons escort sloops Pattimura and Hasanudin also by Ansaldo all 4 laid down by Ansaldom Leghorn, Italy in January 1956.
