The German embassy at Tokyo, Japan wrote on 28 October 1935 to the Chef der Marineleitung at Berlin referring to the Japanese monthly magazine Yushu that the armoured inland gunboat Tai-hen was part of the riverine flotilla, built in 1935, tonnage 290 tons , speed 12.5 miles, flatt-bottomed and an armament of (anti aircraft) guns, machineguns, search lights and wireless devices.
