Of the Poolster-class, sister ship Poolster. The Zuiderkruis was ordered October 1972, laid down at the Verolme Shipyards at Alblasserdam 16 July 1973, launched 15 October 1974 and commissioned 27 June 1975. Displacement full load 16.900 tons, measurement 10.000 tons deadweight and dimensions 515 (between perpendiculars)-561 (over all) x 66'7" x 27'0". Armed with 2-40mm guns and a capacity for 5 helicopters. Her crew numbered 200 men. The 2 Werkspoor diesels delivered 21.000 hp making a speed of 21 knots possible.
