The French blockade of Cadiz according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 8 August 1823

Cadiz, 8 July. Daily arrived in this harbour ships from all nations except from France. 5th July arrived forty ships loaded with victuals. Among these ships was the British brig Leopold coming from Guayaquil, Ecuador with a cargo of cacao. When she entered the harbour she was hailed by a French ship which even fired some gunshots try to stop her. The brig ignored the gunshots and entered the harbour safely.
