The photo of the Pola was published in the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post daily edition dated 14 January 1932.
Of the Zara-class, laid down at the OTO shipyard at Pola, Livorno, Italy 17 March 1930, launched 5 February 1931, commissioned 21 December 1932 and sunk at Cape Matapan 29 March 1941 in action against the British navy.
Dimensions 182,8 x 29,6 x 7,2 metres and a displacement of 11.730 tons standard and 14.360 full load. The 95.000 hp allowed a speed of 32 knots and a range of 5.230 miles with a speed of 16 knots. Armed with 4x2 203mm guns, 2x8 100mm guns, 6x40mm, 4x2 13.2mm machineguns, 4x2 533mm torpedo tubes and 2 Piaggi P6 seaplanes. Armour consisted of 70mm horizontal and 150mm vertical, 100mm gun turrets and 100mm conning tower. Her crew numbered 841 men.
