In the news edition dated 28 November 1821 was a item dealing with the navy of the United States of America. According to this item were ships of the line available and ready to depart for sea, 8 ships of the line armed with 74 and 78 guns lying at the yards, 13 frigates armed with 32-54 guns of which 7 were in actually service, 10 corvettes armed with 20-24 guns, 14 brigs or goeletten armed with 14-18 guns, 3 floating steam batteries and 22 smaller vessels armed with 3-14 guns.
