Built at the yard of Jones, Quigin and Company at Liverpool, England in 1864 for account of the Confederate States. With a measurement of 750-771 tons were her dimensions 230’1 x 26’ x 7.6’. The double Watt oscillating engines supplied 180 hp allowing a speed of 16 knots. With a steel hull fitted out with two masts schooner rigged. Gad a loading capacity of 800-850 bales of cotton and was captured by the USS Montgomery off Wilmington, North Carolina on 10 October 1864. She was commanded by commander James D. Bulloch of the Confederates States Navy. She was bought by the US navy for 150,000 dollars, rebuild in to a gunboat and commissioned in mid December that year as the USS Bat. In mid May a year later was she decommissioned and sold and became the American merchant vessel Teazer. She was again sold in 1872 and served as the British Miramichi until she was broken up in 1902 in the waters around Canada.
