German Admiral Graf Spee

A high French authority supplied the press association Reuter some details dealing with the activities of the French navy. While escorting troop escorts in the Mediterranean was met none resistance and not a single German submarine succeeded in entering these waters. The French navy destroyed several German submarines. German planes dropped during the nights with a bright moon shining magnetic mines in French waters. The warships which escorted the second Canadian troop transport towards England was commanded by a French admiral and a French cruiser was part of the escort of the troop transport of Australian and New Zealand to Egypt. The French navy assisted also in the hunt for the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee while her torpedo boats patrolled along the access for the North Sea. Until now not a single French unit was lost in action.
