Dutch paddle steam warship Zr.Ms. Celebes 1851-1872

On stocks and launched at the Nederlandse Stoomboot Maatschappij Fijenoord, Netherlands. Belonged to the Department of Colonies, paid with colonial finances but manned by the Dutch Royal Navy. Commissioned 1 February 1852, decommissioned 24 December 1870 and stricken 1872. Built of iron and fitted out with 2 funnels. Dimensions 51,36 (between perpendiculars) x 9,45 x1,9m, armed with 8 guns, 80 hp and a displacement of 425 tons. Captured August 1859 after a fight of 4 hours a so-called kota-mara (a wood-built floating battery) on the Kahayan-river (Borneo, Indonesia).
