France and the German submarine according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië daily edition dated 26 October 1905

According to some newspapers published at Paris was the builder of the submarine launched at Kiel the Frenchman d’Equivilley who worked since some years for Krupp. His sister told a journalist that he allready in 1902 wrote a book dealing with the topic submarines and designed around 12 years ago submarines. For several years he tried fruitless to persuade the French government, the firm Schneider at Creuzot, England en Italy to build his design until she was built by Germany at the Germaniawerft at Kiel. The French department of navy was convinced that the suspicion of the naval engineer Laubeuf was not correct and that the resemblance in dimensions between the French submarine Aigrete and the German submarine was pure coincidence.
