In the American Monitor (1824) is a list of the Peruvian naval forces published, which supplies the following information: “Protector, 44 guns, vice-admiral M.G. Guise, captain George Mogel, Limena, 20, captain Richard Pearson, Valcarcel, 18, captain Bleombarratia, Congress, 20, captain George Young, Macedonis, 11, lieutenant Thomas Hodges, commander, Castelli, 1, lieutenant Joseph Wickham”. Just like the navies of the other South American Independents the officers were foreigners.
