Russian navy interested in submarines according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 20 May 1901

The Russian navy intended to purchase electric driven submarines. Two years earlier requested the Russian government the major power to stop the building and using of submarines. In 1903 bought Russia a German submarine.
