Russian submarine M 72 1934->1941




Laid down at Zhdanov at Leningrad on 10 March 1934, launched on 23 December 1934 and commissioned on 24 August 1935. Served in the Baltic. Apparently havy damaged due to a mine in June 1941 in the Gulf of Finland and became a hulk at Kronstadt and later broken up.

Of the VI-Bis class with a displacement of 161 tons surfaced and 202 tons submerged with as dimensions 124' x 10'3" x 8'6". Her crew numbered 18 men. Their armament consisted of 2-21"torpedo tubes placed in the bow and 1-45mm anti aircraft gun. The engines consisted of a 658 hp diesel engine and a 235 hp electror motor allowing a surfaced speed of 13,2 and a submerged speed of 7,9 knots with a surfaced range of 575 nautical miles with a speed of 13,2 knots and 1,600 nautical miles with 8,2 knots, in case she was submerged the range was 6 nautical miles by 7,9 and 55 nautical miles by 2,5 knots. The diving depth was 197'.
