British Batch 3 Type 22 Frigate HMS Chatham (F87) 1986-2013

Laid down by Swan Hunter, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom on 12 May 1986, launched by Lady Oswald on 20 January 1988m commissioned on 4 May 1990,decommissioned on 9 February 2011, stripped and laid up, sold to Turkish company Leyal to be broken up which was executed in October 2013. Motto Surge et vince. Homeport HMNB Devonport, Plymouth, United Kingdom.

Displacement 5.300 tons and as dimensions 148,1 x 14,8 x 6,4 metres or 485’11”x 48’7” x 21’0”. Crew numbered 250-301 men. Carried 1(peace)-2 (war) helicopters. Armament consisted of 2 Sea Wolf anti-air system with total 72 missiles, 2-quad Harpoon missile launchers with total 8 harpoons, 2x3-Magazine launched anti submarine torpedo tubes with total 36 torpedoes, 1-11m4cm/4.5” Mk 8 gun, 2-2cm GAM-BO 1 guns. 1 Goalkeeper CIWS and NATO Seagnat decoy launchers. Machinery consisted of 2 Roll-Royce Marine Spey gas turbines for high speed=maximum 30 knots and 2 Rolls-Royce Tyne gas turbines for cruising=18 knots speed.
