A Egyptian corvette of war lying off Marseille, France in quarantine waiting to load a cargo of gold and a French shipbuilder in Egyptian service according to a Dutch newspaper dated 24 March 1829

News from Marseille, France, dated 19 March indicated that in this harbour since a few days, in quarantine, was lying a Egyptian corvette. She was there to load gold in bars on behalf of the Pacha. This Pacha asked a French shipbuilder to come to his country to build warships for the Egyptian navy. Apparently he made at Marseille several warships for Egyptian account. The French government permitted the shipbuilder to go in Egyptian service.
