Privateers of the Independents active in the South American area according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 11 July 1818

The Spanish brig Joseph II underway from Africa towards Havana, Cuba and the Inclita underway from Cuba towards Puerto Rico were both captured by a privateer of the Independents. The Tuscan master Benson arrived 18 April at Jamaica and was also “visited” by a privateer of the Independents. The same happened to the Sophia master Bull who arrived 22 April at Jamaica.
