Turkish giant battleship ordered at British yard according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië daily edition dated 7 September 1911

The British yard of Vickers at Barrow-on-Furness received the order of the Turkish government to built a giant battleship (1) of 30,000 tons and to be armed with 10-35cm guns placed in heavily armoured casemates. The engines of the newest Parsons-type turbines were to allow a speed of 21 knots. For the building and armament was a budget available of 2,000,000 pound sterling and in principle were also British manufactured products to be used.

1. The Reshadieh laid down on 1 August 1911, launched on 3 September 1913 but seized by the British government and taken into service as the HMS Erin in August 1914 and after being decommissioned in December 1922 broken up.
