The newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad daily edition dated 22 May published an item dated Paris Friday 21 May reporting that according to the newspaper Moniteur the ships of the line Bretagne, Arcole, Prince Jerôme, Ulm, Donauwerth and Isly left Toulon on 17 May for exercises in the Mediterranean.
The newspaper Nieuw Amsterdamsch handels- en effectenblad dated 4 June reported that according to private tidings from Ragusa left the two French ships of the line Gravosa on 29 May towards the South.
The newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant dated 6 June published an item dated Paris 4 June reporting that in Constantinople all kind of contradictable rumours were dealing with the situation in Montenegro and that the French rear admiral Jurrien de la Gravière was ordered to prevent a new landing of Turkish troops at Kleck. This last rumour was directly denied and perhaps one of the reasons that the French ships of the line left Gravossa with unknown destination and for an unknown period.
