German naval budget limited according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 1 March 1905

An item dated Berlin 28 February reported that the Reichstag decreased the naval budget with more as 3.000.000 Mark. As a result there was none budget available for a gunboat to serve on the East Asian rivers.
