Russian submarines in German service according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 5 February 1940

An item reported that according to tidings from Havas from Oslo suggesting that the Soviet Union lent fourteen submarines to Germany which now were operating in the North Sea with German crews and Germany flagged although also with Russian navy officers on board who wanted to be keep up to date what submarine warfare was. It was hardly possible to check the reliability of the tidings.
