South Korea asked USA for more warships according to the Dutch newspaper Friese Koerier dated Wednesday 22 July 1953

An item reported that the day before the South Korean admiral Pak Ok Kyoe responsible for the naval operations said that he would do his utmost to obtain more warships from the United States, All his naval officers were very well trained and able to operate more vessels as were available at the moment. The South Korean navy consisted then of 4 frigates and some gunboats and smaller vessels.
