Swedish cabinet buying the tankers Carina and Castor according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vaderland daily edition dated 2 October 1939

The correspondent at Stockholm reported that the Swedish cabinet purchased the two large, modern tankers Carina and Castor which immediately were taken into service of the transport of fuel oil and petroleum from the Gulf of Mexico to Sweden. The decision to purchase was taken because both ships were by a foreign company time chartered and there was no other possibility to end the contracts.
