British naval budget increased according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 4 March 1937

An item dated London 3 March reported that the British navy budget of 105.065.000 pound sterling was approved, an increase compared with 1936 of 23.776.000 pound sterling. The new building consisted of 3 battleships, 2 aircraft carriers, 3 escort vessels, 4 minelayers, 3 coastal patrol boats, a mother (depot) ship for the fleet destroyers, a mother (depot) ship for submarines and 33 smaller vessels. The personnel strength was increased with 10.864 men tot 113,000 men.
