Spanish crown sent warships to stop Algerian privateering activities according to the Dutch magazine Maandelyksche Nederlandsche Mercurius dated July 1758

A tiding received from Madrid reported that since the Algerian ships no longer cruised for Dutch ships they now harassed the Spanish coasts. The Spanish crown decided to sent some warships to stop these activities. The Spanish warships fought with 1-56 gun ship, 1-36 gun frigate and five well armed chebecqs. The frigate and chebecqs managed to escape but the admiral ship was captured after a fierce fight.
