Colombian gunboat Hercules destroyed in explosion according to the Dutch newspaper Tilburgsche Courant dated 18 June 1928

An item dated Bogota, Colombia dated 16 June reported that the gunboat Hercules was destroyed caused by a boiler explosion.(1) Ten crewmembers were killed and some wounded. Her commanding officer was missing.

1. The Algemeen Handelsblad evening edition dated 18 June confirmed this item adding that the incident happened on the river Magdalena near Sitio Nuevo. In a second item dated New York 18 June it was reported that 51 crewmembers were missing fearing all were dead. There would be just some survivors.
