American transport Bulford with corn and flour towards China according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeeuwsche Nieuwsbode dated 16 April 1907

An item reported that the US government fitted out the transport Bulford of 5,000 tons and loading it with flour and corn with a value of 100.000 US dollars to aid the starving Chinese. She was able to make the voyage between San Francisco and Shanghai in 25-30 days where in the latter harbour the cargo was to be handed over via to the American consul-general to a civilian help fund at Shanghai and the mission committee at Chinkiang. The cargo was paid by members of the Christian magazine Christian Herald. The cargo was to be dived over the provinces Anhui, Honan, Kiangsoe, Kiangsi and Chentoeng.
