An item reported that captain Dreyfus would be brought with the transport Finistére between 1 and 5 March from the island Ré towards the Iles du Salut.(1)
The edition dated Wednesday 27 February reported that he was the Saturday brought with the transport Ville de Saint-Nazaire to the Iles de Salut.

The French Jewish officer Alfred Dreyfus (9 October 1859 Mulhouse, Alsace, France-12 July 1935 Paris, France) was wrongly accused of committing treason, arrested on 15 October 1895, convicted on 5 January a year later and banned to Devil’s Island, French Guiana for the rest of his life. In 1899 he received pardon and released from prison although the same year again accused of treason. Not earlier as on 12 July 1906 was he officially exonerated.
