Brazilian increasing the merchant marine fleet according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 3 September 1937

An item referred to the newspaper Maasbode which reported that the Brazilian legation at The Hague announced that the shipping company Lloyd Brasileiro (property of the Brazilian cabinet) was interested during a period of ninety days receiving tenders for building twelve merchant ships. The twelve ships consisted of two ships for cargo and passengers transport towards Europe, four freighters for transatlantic shipping, four freighters for coastal shipping and 2 motor ships for cargo and passengers transport between Porto Alegre and Corumba.
