Japanese ships best option for sugar transport towards Europe ording to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 24 July 1915

An item reported that the busy time of the sugar transport was started and that a lot of Japanese-flagged ships were involved. The Dutch newspaper Bat. Nieuwsblad reported that according to merchant circles Japan out of the records made Germany clear that if one Japanese flagged ship was torpedoed Japan would enter the war in Europe. As a result it was commonly believed that using Japanese ships for transporting sugar towards England and France was the safest way.
