An item reported that last Friday at the shipyard de Walvisch, Amsterdam the keel was laid down of the bark ship Theodora en Sara (1) of 250 lasten for B.W. van Straten (2) destined for the Dutch East Indies trade.

The Dutch newspaper Javasche Courant dated 29 October 1836 published an item dated Amsterdam 1 July reporting that the same afternoon at the shipyard de Walvisch in the Groote Bikkestraat shipbuilder Jan Nuveen was to lay down the keel of the bark ship Theodora and Sara of 250 lasten for B.W. van Straten captain Jan Schut for the Dutch East Indies trade. The newspaper Bredasche Courant dated 9 December 1836 reported that recently at the shipyard de Walvisch in Amsterdam the bark ship Theodora en Sara was to be launched by shipbuilder J. Nieuwveen for B.W. van Straten and captain to be J. Schut.
2. Barend Willem van Starckenborg van Straten (22 February 1804 Amsterdam-25 August 1846 Bad Homburg von der Höhe, Darmstardt, Hesse, Germany) married at Batavia on 14 August 1825 with Theodora Mechtilde ten Cate (28 May 1801 Oudendijk-14 December 1864 Amsterdam). Her sister was married with Jan Bonn ship owner in the Dutch East Indies trade and after his death with captain Maarten Christoffel/Marten Christopher Löschen.
