Brazilian tug Dr. Joao Felippe built at Slikkerveer, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 6 April 1895

An item dated Amsterdam 5 April referred to a private letter reporting that the Brazilian tug Dr. Joao Felippe on 3 April safely arrived at Santa Catharina. Rigged like a schooner departed she on 1 December Rotterdam and 4 January Plymouth commanded by captain Lukkien.(1)

1. The edition dated 2 December 1894 reported that she was built by the firm A.F. Smulders of Utrecht/Slikkerveer. Lacking enough coal bunker capacity was she sailing to her destination and for this purpose fitted out with 2 masts and gaff schooner rigged. Her dimensions were 20 x 4,5 metres. She was built for the Brazilian government.
