British tanker Garfield torpedoed by German submarine according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 29 January 1917

An item reported that according to German government tidings one of her submarines destroyed in the Mediterranean on 15 January the British tanker Garfield of 3,838 tons loaded with coal and kerosene underway to Port Said. Her master was taken prisoner.
