French troop transport Amiral Magon torpedoed and lost according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 1 February 1917

An item reported that according to official navy tidings received from Paris the Amiral Magon of 3,582 net tons with 900 men on board destroyed by a submarine of the 25th, just 109 men were saved. The newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 29 January 1917 referred to German government tidings reporting that one of her submarines torpedoed on the 25th around 250 miles East of Malta a troop transport of the enemy going to the East which was escorted by a French torpedo boat. She was fully loaded with troops and sunk within ten minutes. The same submarine destroyed earlier the Garfield.
