South Africa intended to increase her navy according to the Dutch newspaper De waarheid dated 25 April 1969

An item reported that the South African government intended to purchase a large number of patrol vessels. At Simonstown was a new harbour to be founded and a wharf for the submarines which were being built in France. The costs for the harbour were more as 72.000.000 Dutch guilders.
