Launched in November 1857 at the shipyard of William H. Webb for account of the Treasury Department, laid down in 1859, on 30 March 1861 handed over to the Union navy, captured in 1863 by the Confederate States which fitter her out as a trade ship, although captured again by the Union forces was sold not being capable for naval duties, renamed Elliot Richie and finally abandoned in 1881.
